Conflicts in decision making were causing problems for local company, Elite Auto Collision. Between the mother, father, son, and daughter team, procedural methods were becoming blurred. Matriarch Sandra Baker-Assemi decided that to clear the air and ensure a successful future, she would reach out to her local SBDC for help.

Baker-Assemi met with consultant Michele Burkart in 2012 to discuss the internal strain within Elite Auto Collision and how to promote future growth. “She wanted to really restructure the company and realized that she needed to spearhead the updating of her financial information in order to do that.” Burkart commented.

With Burkart’s help Elite Auto Collision compiled a list of banks in the area, learned what ratios are used when calculating eligibility for SBA loans, and were advised as to what business plan software to purchase to make financial presentations in order to secure loans.

It is often difficult for a family-run business to run smoothly and successfully but Sandra Baker-Assemi and fellow family co-owners have found a way to make it work. “We care deeply about the success of our enterprise and take pride in the accomplishments of those we care for and know for a long time.” Baker-Assemi mused, adding, “Hanging around a bunch of loveable brainiacs is just plain fun!”

Baker Assemi exuded confidence in the help she received from the SBDC, “We consider the SBDC to be a part of our success strategy.” Getting an outside opinion on some of their next steps, Elite Auto Collision was able to refocus and reinvigorate activity within the company. Elite Auto Collision continues to work on getting a better idea of their profitability and increasing market share by implementing innovative marketing initiatives. The SBDC is at their side every step of the way.
